The EHS Crow Foundation hopes to teach and inspire students through their non-profit organization, which was formed in 2016. They intend to do this along with certified instructors who are capable of aiding them in teaching high school students construction skills. The instructors that teach these students must receive their certification through the National Center for Construction Education and Research Program. A proposed frac sand mine is supposed to come to Atascosa County but not if it’s residents have anything to say about it. The company intends to move and shift its plant, along with their heaviest operations, away from the neighborhoods due to the disapproval of those in the area. Although Preferred Sands, a Pennsylvania company, has the necessary permit, they have voluntarily stopped construction so that they can redo the plans. Although windmills are not designed today, they will standto time indefinite. That is if Jim Collums has anything to say about it. He is a local Poteet windmill collector who enjoys them so much that he also restores them to their former glory days. Many of his windmills are on display at his Poteet Winery. Collums has donated one of his windmills, in addition to a water tank, to a Pleasanton museum, in Atascosa County, the Longhorn Museum. Visitors come here to learn more about the Atascosa area.
